Founder and Chairman for many years of very successful BADJER group, see www.jacksdale.org.uk 8 years labour district councillor and twice Civic Chairman. 22 years British Army, 3 with 2/2nd KEO Gurkha Rifles, President of Local Male Voice Choir, member of other heritage organisations. Active Christian and churgoer who helps fundraise and contributes to overseas missionaries etc.
My priorities are to stop, all non-essential building on green land. Housing should be built on “brown land.” the creation of a bulk transport tax regime that pushes supermarkets to supply more local and seasonal produce would reduce traffic and support local farmers.
By strictly controlling selected imports and immigration; and by financially supporting our local and national industries Ashfield, would once again become a thriving community of industrious and proud people, earning and spending locally.
I also support that in return for financial support and training for a new career, the benefit recipient must complete a certain number of hours of work per week. Properly implemented, these policies will undermine the benefit dependency culture and encourage the unemployed back into formal employment There must be only one category of welfare recipient: those who genuinely deserve or have earned it. Those who can work but refuse to do so, must face the consequences of their actions.
On Crime I agree with the re-introduce of corporal punishment for petty criminals and vandals; restoration of capital punishment for paedophiles, terrorists and murderers where their guilt is proven beyond dispute (such as with DNA or other compelling evidence). Make Police locally accountable, via the local councillors.
To support employment I would wish to ensure that all local government contacts would have to go local firms using local British workers, after all it’s OUR tax money that’s being spent, and similar rule would apply to national government contracts. I support withdrawal from the European Union, but encourage beneficial trade with our friends in Europe.
Schooling should return to teaching, firstly, the basic 3 r’s and the proud history of our nation, I would ask teachers to encourage good manners, respect for others and the environment and to be responsible for their actions and behaviour,
